Media playback controls with Jieshuo Screen Reader

Last updated on 27 January 2025

Jieshuo Screen Reader goes beyond basic screen reading tasks to offer a variety of features. One such feature is media playback controls. With Jieshuo, you can play/pause media, skip to the next or previous track, and fast forward or rewind. While these functions can be activated from the main menu or via the Voice Assistant, assigning gestures to them provides greater convenience.

Assigning Gestures to Media Playback Control Functions

To assign gestures to Media Control functions, navigate to “Screen Reader Settings”, then “General Settings”. Ensure that the “Use Custom Gestures” option is enabled, and activate “Custom Gesture Scheme Settings”. Locate the gesture you wish to assign, and after double-tapping it, select “Function”.
You will see a list of available functions. Since the list is extensive, you can search by tapping “Enter Keyword.” For instance, typing the first letters of “media” will display matching results above the keyboard, such as “Previous Media” and “Next Media” functions. Simply double-tap the desired function to assign it to the selected gesture.

Notes:

1. The play or pause function is also used to answer calls.

2. A lot of media players support the “next” and “previous” tracks, but the number of media players where the fast forward and rewind will work is less.

3. All mentioned functions should work even if you are not in the media player window. Also, they should work while you are on the lock screen.

4. If you are using a per-app gesture scheme or a scheme other than the custom, you find the settings to add gestures in “Operation settings”.
