Accessibility and User Comments:

The app takes a simplistic approach with not much to write home about in terms of customizations. The main tabs are located at the bottom, and they can be switched between by swiping left or right with 2 fingers. The tabs include Folders, Tracks, Albums, and Playlists.

Screen reader actions are not supported, so in order to reach item-related options the item has to be long pressed. Long pressing selects the item and shows the related options. Additional items can be selected by double tapping them. Currently, there is no option to play all tracks of a folder by long pressing the folder; the folder has to be opened and one of the tracks is double tapped to start playing.

The player UI is simple, with buttons to play and pause, move to the next or previous track, select the repeat state, enable or disable shuffling, and a playback speed selector. There is also an equalizer and a sleep timer, though they are not located in the player UI. The player can be minimized by going back, after which the equalizer can be selected or the more options button can be tapped to find the sleep timer.

Most buttons and UI elements are accessible. The only button that was found unlabeled is the button that opens the player queue, which is located in the Now Playing screen. While in the Now Playing screen, the upcoming track can be checked as this information is displayed and exposed to the screen reader.

One observed accessibility issue is the inability to interact with the seek bar slider using the screen reader’s slider adjustment mechanisms. This means that the slider has to be adjusted by double tapping and holding, then moving the finger on the screen without lifting it. If using Jieshuo, though, the fast forward and rewind functions can be used to seek through the track.

The app is simple, open source, and free with no annoying ads. There is also a Pro version which unlocks all Pro features across the Fossify apps. The Pro version mainly serves as a way to support development, with additions such as extra app themes.

Last Tested App version and Android version:
