GoodMaps Outdoors is a fully accessible turn-by-turn GPS app for Android. It has all the outdoor navigation features you expect plus unique offerings you cannot get anywhere else, including extra verbosity for blind users.
Details
When you open the app, a voice says good maps, then you are in the location tab, here you have the option to call Aira, look around and it will tell you what is around you as you walk. Note that this is turned off every time you open the app, and I haven’t found a way to change that. Then you have your location with a more info button to the right of it; tapping it will show your location and the speed you are travelling at. At the bottom are the tabs: roots, location, POIs and settings.
The Roots tab lets you search for a location, has categories and creates a waypoint; the Location tab, mentioned above, is not sure what the POI’s tab does; and the Settings tab has all the settings.
Note that the tts speed is controlled by the slider in the system tts settings, and in my case I had to add waypoints for road crossings because they weren’t spoken. The waypoints were accurate in my tests.
