SandFly is a screen reader for Android phones and tablets running Android 8 or later and Wear OS watches.
With SandFly Pro:
- Screen recognition: finds buttons and text in apps and games that are not accessible, and makes them items you can swipe to and double-tap. It can run on every screen of an app.
- AI agent: say or type a task, and the agent operates the app to do it. In banking and other sensitive apps, it asks before each action and refuses payments.
Free features:
- Image and screen descriptions from Gemini, Claude, OpenAI, Mistral and other AI services with your own API key, or from a model on the device, with follow-up questions by voice.
- Translation of the last thing spoken, and automatic translation of everything SandFly speaks, including notifications.
- Keymaps for a physical keyboard based on VoiceOver, NVDA, JAWS and Orca, with arrow-key navigation, object navigation, a review cursor and text recognition of the whole screen.
- A rotor, edge gestures, swipe and hold, gesture profiles, and different gestures and keyboard shortcuts in each app.
- A braille keyboard, with Japanese braille, and an app launcher where you type an app’s name in braille to open it.
- A handwriting keyboard, and dictation with Google on-device recognition or Whisper.
- Its own notification list, quick settings panel and clipboard history.
- Voice profiles, a speech dictionary, and settings for how each app’s notifications are read.
- Sound themes, 3D sounds, and a vibration for every sound.
- Direct touch for audio games, and Pause SandFly for apps that need it off.
- Lua scripts that add features to one app or every app, installed from inside SandFly.
- Interactive tutorials for touch gestures and keyboard shortcuts.
SandFly is free. SandFly Pro is bought in Settings > SandFly Pro, by month or by year, with prices for each country.
SandFly is distributed through GitHub releases and updates itself from them.

Accessibility and User Comments:
SandFly is a screen reader and is used with itself; its settings, tutorial, notification list, quick settings panel and update notifications all work with SandFly. To turn it on, go to Settings > Accessibility > SandFly, after turning off any other screen reader. An interactive tutorial covers gestures and keyboard commands. Two settings need permissions that Android grants only through adb or Shizuku: Fix stuck touch exploration and Speaker when away from your ear. With Shizuku running, SandFly grants them itself; otherwise each setting shows the adb command, with a Copy command action. Problems can be reported from SandFly with Help & feedback > Report a problem.
Last Tested App version and Android version:
SandFly 0.3.0, Android 17
