How to Use Telegram’s Message Scheduling Feature

Telegram, the popular messaging app, includes many useful features, one of them is message scheduling. This feature allows users to compose a message to be sent at a specified time and date.

What is the Schedule Messages Feature?

As the name implies, message scheduling allows users to compose a message to be sent at a later specified time. This feature is available in private chats, groups, and channels, but it only works with text messages whether they are new messages or replies.

How to Utilize the Feature

  1. Open a chat and write a new message or reply to one.
  2. Long press the “send” button to reveal additional options instead of tapping it to send the message immediately.
  3. Select “Schedule Message”.
  4. Specify date and time on the new screen. By default, the date is set to today. You can adjust the time using fields for hours and minutes. To change the values, use your screen reader’s method for changing slider values. For TalkBack users, swipe up or down with one finger. For Jieshuo users, refer to this guide for moving sliders. Note that the screen reader does not announce the new value automatically, so you can touch the field or use the swiping method to read the new value.
  5. Press the send button after setting the date and time. The selected date and time will be read out along with the send button.
  6. The scheduled message and the selected date and time will be shown in the chat. Leaving the chat will make it disappear from view. However, when you reopen a chat with scheduled messages, you will see a “Scheduled Messages” item next to the compose message field. Activating this item will open the list of scheduled messages.
  7. In the list of scheduled messages, double-tap a message to reveal the following options:
    • Send Now: Send the message immediately.
    • Copy: Copy the message.
    • Edit: Edit the message.
    • Reschedule: Change the scheduled time.
    • Delete: Delete the message.

You can also see edit, copy, and delete options when long-pressing a scheduled message.

Setting Reminders

If you long press the send button after composing a message while in the “Saved Messages” chat, you will find the “Set a Reminder” option. You can set the date and time in the same way as discussed above, then press “Remind” to save the reminder. When the specified time is reached, you will receive a notification with the message. You can manage reminders in the same way as scheduled messages, with the same available options.
