New TalkBack Spoofing Jieshuo Project Introduces Additional Functionalities Including Samsung Internet Support

Important note: The following post is a user-submitted post. Accessible Android editorial staff members have not tested the service, and using it is at your own risk. Moreover, the project is not developed or endorsed by the Jieshuo Screen Reader developer; it is an unofficial project created by members of the community.

For a long time now, the Jieshuo screen reader has had no access to the Samsung Internet browser.
For some reason, Samsung does not wish to grant access to its apps to third-party accessibility services.

There was already a post on this site about the TalkBack replacement feature, but it still did not fully resolve the problem.
Recently, a new open-source project appeared on GitHub that promises to fix the issue with the Samsung browser.

This project is a separately installable APK with its own accessibility service, which must be enabled in the accessibility settings.
The app works on the principle of a fake TalkBack and includes several additional features in its settings:

  1. Disable gesture detection (only in the keyboard area)
This feature is very similar to the recently released Jieshuo feature, but as mentioned, gestures are disabled only in the keyboard area.
  2. Improved typing with gestures disabled
Some keyboards, such as Samsung’s, behave very oddly and unpredictably when gesture detection is turned off.
This feature fixes that behavior (note that in your screen reader settings you will need to enable double-tap for key activation).
  3. Delay before showing the pop-up window when holding keys
Jieshuo does not have a built-in option to set the delay before the keyboard shows a pop-up window or starts deleting text when holding the Backspace key.
  4. No need to use the Jieshuo Helper service
Since the app already performs this function itself.

You can view the project code or download the ready APK here:

Note that the app supports English, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Spanish, and Arabic.
All languages except Russian were translated using ChatGPT.
