One Year of Accessible Android: Empowering the Blind Community Together

It’s a momentous occasion. On July 25th, 2023, AccessibleAndroid.com proudly emerged as a fully independent international English website. This journey wouldn’t have been possible without the remarkable support of our great community, and we’re thrilled to celebrate this milestone with you!

The Core Foundation and Vision

Accessible Android is founded on a strong belief in collaboration to build an objective, informative resource on Android-related topics from an accessible perspective. It aims to be the platform that both blind and sighted individuals can use to learn about Android’s accessibility, strengths, and challenges screen reader users face.

Our Mission: Knowledge, Empowerment, and Advocacy

Our mission at Accessible Android is crystal clear: providing Android-related knowledge, dispelling misconceptions, highlighting what needs improvement, and advocating for a better experience with the support of the community. Through the different sections of the website, related communities, and partnerships, we share knowledge that ranges from quick tips to in-depth device reviews and complete guides. Our content includes accessible apps, opinion articles, fruitful discussions, and advocacy initiatives.

We cater to everyone, from the curious newcomer to the seasoned tech enthusiast. Our diverse content ensures there’s something valuable for users of all experience levels.

Beyond the Surface: Championing Change

Accessible Android isn’t just about celebrating what’s available; we’re also passionate advocates of addressing what’s lacking. We don’t overlook shortcomings – because by raising awareness among app developers, we can work towards a more inclusive Android experience for all.

One Year In Numbers

In just one year, Accessible Android has flourished. We’ve published 187 posts, covering everything from essential tips to in-depth device reviews, and curated a collection of 148 accessible apps to enhance your Android experience. It’s incredibly rewarding to have reached users in 214 countries and territories with over 156k visits in total.

A Community-Powered Platform

We often say that Accessible Android is a hybrid project. We believe that accomplishing any achievement is impossible without the support of the community. People are the real strength that drives the website and the team to continue the project. It is the true force behind any success or real change. With constructive feedback, insightful discussions, spreading the word, and contributions, Accessible Android will advance further. Every small gesture counts, even if it’s a few words about an accessible app discovery or a quick supportive comment.

The Future

Reflecting on the past year, we are amazed at our current position despite all of the challenges, including technical ones. Nevertheless, we are still at the commencement of a long journey that we aspire to traverse together, overcoming every obstacle regardless of its difficulty. People are the future of Accessible Android. They are the real motivation and the most important source of information and accomplishments.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all for being a part of this journey and for sharing in this vision.

Let’s continue to move forward with strength and determination. Do take part, and let’s inform, educate, and advocate together. Contribute what you can, whether it be financial support or other forms of assistance. Even a few minutes spent writing about a quick tip is a contribution that can make a difference.

We look forward to celebrating with you on July 25, 2025!
