Quick tip: how to use the search feature to find settings in Jieshuo screen reader

with the huge set of customization options in Jieshuo screen reader comes the side effect of overwhelming settings screens, where even advanced long-time users could have a hard time remembering where a certain option is located. finally, starting with Jieshuo’s October 1 2025 version, search is added to Jieshuo settings to make finding options more convenient.

How to use the search feature

when you launch Jieshuo settings, whether by selecting the app, from accessibility services, or by using the screen reader settings function, there is now a button called “Search for”. upon tapping this button, the keyboard is shown where you can start typing what you are looking for. as you type, matching options appear above the keyboard. you can use touch exploration to navigate between available results or swipe between them to find the one you want. text matching is not case sensitive. each result is announced along with its path in settings. if the result is one of the main settings sections, for example “General settings” or “Advanced settings”, selecting the result opens the section for you. if it is one of the internal sections like “Typing settings” or an option like a checkbox, tapping the result takes you to where the setting is located. Jieshuo should focus the option or settings section, though sometimes it takes a moment for Jieshuo to focus the option for you.

it’s important to note that search results also include extensions and tools, and tapping a tool or extension takes you to where it is located and focuses it. however, custom created functions that are not created as tools or extensions are not included in the results.
