The Ultimate guide on MiUI notification and quick settings panels

In this post, we will guide you through the notification and quick settings panels on Xiaomi, Redmi and Poco phones using the MiUI system launcher and how you can manage all of the functions. On all Xiaomi, Redmi and Poco phones runningMiUI 12 and later, the notification shade is divided into two sections

Notification Bar

Notifications from apps and services are listed in order of importance. There is also a settings button in the top right corner of the screen, where you can go to the notification settings to change the order of importance, disable app-specific notifications, and set sound and vibration preferences.

The most recently received notification is shown in an expanded form. If you received a notification from WhatsApp, Telegram, Twitter, etc., there will be action buttons next to the notification. Other notifications you have received are shown in a collapsed view. Next to each notification is an expand button. If the notification has actions, they are shown in this way.

To dismiss a notification. With TalkBack or Jieshuo open, you can press and hold on the notification and drag it to the far right or far left corner of the screen. If you are using TalkBack, you can go to actions in the TalkBack menu and double tap close. There is a button at the bottom that clears the notification bar. By pressing this button, you can clear all push notifications except for fixed notifications.

Weather apps, apps that actively use the music playback service, apps that actively use location, or upcoming alarms will be pinned to the notification bar for a period of time. The notification bar is completely cleared by closing the relevant apps.

How to open the notification bar

The notification bar is opened by swiping down with two fingers from the top left of the screen. TalkBack users can open the notification bar with a down/right swipe, while Jieshuo users can open the notification bar with a left/up swipe. In both screen readers, these gestures are customizable.

Quick settings panel

The quick settings panel is a panel that allows you to instantly turn on and off basic functions and connection preferences on the phone.

How to open the quick settings panel

How to open it?
To open the quick settings panel, you can use a two-finger swipe down gesture from the top right of the screen. If you are using Jieshuo, you can define a finger gesture that goes to this panel. When you open the quick settings panel, there is a settings button just below the status bar, a settings shortcut just to the right, and a counter showing data usage statistics on the left. Just right below are the on/off switches for Bluetooth, mobile data and wifi. Airplane mode, a button to toggle mute/unmute, a button to take screenshots and a slider to change the screen brightness.

Unified panel

If you want to see the notification bar and quick settings panel in one panel, Xiaomi has made this possible. You can combine the notification bar and quick settings panel by going to Settings>Notifications and control center>control center>old version. To open this panel, you can swipe with two fingers from the top of the screen; or you can use the gesture to open the notification bar that you use with TalkBack / Jieshuo.

How to edit the quick settings panel

On the new layout, the notification bar or quick settings, whichever is currently active, can also be switched between the two panels by swiping left or right with two fingers.
Accessibly moving, adding and removing items is most efficiently done in the old version quick settings view, with the edit button at the end of the page, while switching between pages by swiping left with two fingers.
If we should describe these steps briefly, here’s as follows:

Click on the Edit button, for example: When you want to move an item in position x to position y
When you double-click on the relevant item, you need to select Move from the options at the bottom of the screen, then double-tap on the location where you want to drop it. You can do the same for Add-Remove.
