What’s New in Prudence Screen Reader 3.0.0

Prudence Screen Reader has just received a major update on Google Play, bringing the app to version 3.0.0. This version introduces a range of powerful new features and improvements focused on enhancing accessibility and user control.

New Features:

  • Danish Language Support: Danish has been added to the list of supported languages.
  • Smart Camera – Real-Time Q&A: You can now ask questions using your voice, and the Smart Camera will provide real-time descriptions of your surroundings.
  • Smart Camera – Object Search: Use voice commands to search for specific objects in your environment using the Smart Camera.
  • Independent TTS for Novel Reader: The novel reader now supports a separate TTS engine, allowing for a dedicated voice while reading.
  • Independent TTS for Notifications: Set a different TTS engine just for reading notification content aloud.
  • Automatic Image Descriptions: Automatic visual interpretation has been added to improve image accessibility.

Improvements and Fixes:

  • Improved TTS reading performance when using media volume.
  • Fixed an issue where OCR would not work with Black Screen Mode enabled.
  • Renamed “Hide Screen” to the clearer Black Screen Mode.
  • Fixed an issue where the Black Screen Mode status wouldn’t update in the main menu.
  • Resolved issues with missing scroll sound effects on Pixel devices.
  • Improved focus alignment when browsing or clicking message lists in the Telegram app.
  • Fixed inconsistent volume levels between sound themes and speech engines when using media volume.
  • Optimized main menu layout and removed unnecessary items.
  • Added support for custom sorting of main menu items.
  • Fixed a bug that caused long text content to be cut off during reading.
  • Other small bug fixes and refinements throughout the system.

Important Note:

Starting with version 3.0, features like Smart Camera, Translation, and Automatic Image Description require logging into a PSR account to use their full capabilities.

    Actions support is there, though its not in the reading controls. Same goes with being able to customize the reading controls more indepth like ya can do with Talkback 16. You might want to let them know in their FB group. I believe they also have a Telegram one. Otherwise, do send them feedback via the app or email.
