Scenario-Adaptive TTS Configurations in Jieshuo Screen Reader

Last updated on 10 October 2024

The Jieshuo screen reader offers a feature allowing users to assign a “main” or primary TTS engine, and a secondary one specifically used for reading certain information, such as notifications. Recently, Jieshuo expanded this customization feature, empowering users to configure TTS settings for various scenarios and modes.

Accessing and Customizing Scenario-Adaptive TTS Configurations:

To access the new TTS customizations, navigate to Screen reader settings and select “TTS settings,” then activate the “Scenario-adaptive TTS configurations.”

Within this section, you’ll find specific scenarios where you can define TTS-related settings for:

  1. Notification Reading: Self-explanatory, tailored for handling the automatic reading of notifications.
  2. Reading Mode: A Jieshuo feature to read articles and webpages.
  3. Chat Messages Auto-Reading: Automatic reading of incoming chat messages when the user is in the chat window.
  4. Automatic Browsing: Reading items sequentially and continuously, supporting reverse automatic browsing for on-screen elements.
  5. Character by Character Browsing Mode: More information about this mode available here.
  6. Caller Info: Information about call details, like the caller ID announcement.
  7. Time Announcement: Announcements associated with Jieshuo’s automatic time speaking, stopwatch, and preset timer-related messages.
  8. Voice Assistant responses: Responses that you receive when using the Voice Assistant feature.
  9. Focus monitoring: The changes in the monitored items that are added using the “Monitor the currently focused element: function.

Customizable TTS Settings:

  • TTS Engine: Pro subscribers can select any installed TTS engine, while free version users have limited options.
  • TTS Rate Acceleration: Boosts the speech rate beyond normal speeds. Note: Not compatible with certain TTS engines like Auto TTS.
  • TTS Rate: Controls the speech rate.
  • TTS Volume: Manages the speech volume.
  • TTS Pitch: Adjusts the speech pitch.
  • Audio Channel: Links volume to a specific channel, such as alarm, notification, ringtone, media, or accessibility.

After configuring your settings, simply navigate back, and your changes should be saved and active without any additional steps. These customizations take effect independently of secondary TTS settings and even if the “Use a Single TTS Option” checkbox is selected.
